These courses are tailor made to meet the needs of the client. The course can have a general health and safety and/or manual handling focus. They can be between one and three days long.

Risk Assessment for staff involved in
health and social care
Course Aim
The aim of the course is to enable staff to identify risk factors within their work environment and to enable them to minimise risk whilst maintaining the service users choice and independence.
Intended Outcomes
By the end of the day participants should be able to:
- Identify some of the risk factors in their work area.
- Recall the appropriate legislation in relation to risk management.
- Discuss the concept of “Right to be at risk”.
- Explain clearly, when a service user’s freedom is restricted, the reasons for this action.
- Put into place risk reducing measures in relation to the client group they work with.
